50th Reunion
Jack and I have been married 47 years and have two children and three grandchildren. I’m still teaching art at my neighborhood school (to 1000 kids this year) and travel once a month to teach art to my daughter Diana’s 6th-grade class in Sacramento. I’ve designed and supervised kids making clay tiles for two large art murals at the school.
space
I’m also involved in my own creative art — pottery and figurative sculpture — through the Orchard Valley Clay Art Guild. With teaching and work with my art, trips to the local art museums, and travels around the country and to Europe, this semi-retired life is good. My children and their families are in Oakland and Sacramento, so I see them on a regular basis. I get to Lawrence occasionally to visit family and stay in touch with the old home town.

2004 Reunion
Family: Husband Jack, 2 children, 1 grandchild
Notes of my life: Happily married 42 years, continues to enjoy sculpture and clay art, both personally and as a teacher (teaching both children and teachers)
Current Activities: Orchard Valley Clay Art Guild and teaching clay art at elementary school.
Plans for the future: Retire and continue to enjoy California living.
Memories from Lawrence High Days: Mrs. Wilson’s art classes set me on the art life/art education track.

50th Reunion
Frank and I were both Spanish teachers and have been married 47 years. Once the children arrived, I stayed home. We have four children and seven grandchildren. Later I was a church secretary for 35 years and somehow never got back to teaching. (Our daughter has been a Spanish teacher for nearly 20 years.) I’ve been the organist at our church since l977, but I’m thinking longingly of retiring from that, too.

I’m retired from a career with the Air Force and Department of Defense. I live in Chesterfield, VA with Gayle, my wife of 42 years. Our son, Stephen, and daughter, Linda, live nearby. I spent 11 years as an officer in the Air Force after I was commissioned through the Air Force ROTC program at KU.

I met Gayle while stationed in Orlando. We have traveled all over the United States and the world while on various management and executive jobs on active duty and as a civilian. We have been splitting our time between Chesterfield and Orlando but Virginia is now our permanent home. We plan to travel frequently to take advantage of timeshare ownership, which is fairly new to us.
We have two children and two grandchildren

50th Reunion
I graduated from KU in ’63, then got my MA in Church History in ’77. I taught French and World Religion (in HS and college) in Missouri, California and Arizona. My husband (an Episcopal priest) retired in ’08, but still preaches some. We have two children and three grandchildren.
space
Current Activities: Alto and flute soloist in our church choir and in the Sonoran Sounds Women's Chorale, creating their Web site at www.sonoransounds. org — my other main hobby being PC. Also active in PEO, write poetry and read lots. Interested in nutrition and alternative medicine, acupuncture and T’ai Chi. We travel, play cards, BBQ with friends, watch NFL, swim, tend our 12-tree orchard and enjoy Arizona life.

2006 Update

Disney Castle Katy (Wright) Young is keeping busy near Phoenix, Ariz, since retiring from college and HS teaching of French and World Religions, last year.  She is now Pres. of her local Spanish Club…over 175 members ... with 10 classes (beginning, intermediate & advanced) and 5 Fiestas/year.  Olé!
spacer
Her husband Bill is still Rector of a nearby Episcopal Church, so she did the computer graphics for their new directory, recently and also sings solos (voice and flute) in the choir & layreads.  Also, she’s alto/2nd. Sop. in a women’s chorus, the Sonoran Sounds.
spacer
She enjoys her local computer club & French Club (mostly native speakers) and PEO, as well.  Bill is also very active in his Masonic Lodge.  For fun, Katy just enjoys “playing PC” (XP and IPAQ handheld) ... and both love visiting their son on Oahu — when he’s not stationed in Iraq (2005) or Korea (current), as well as visits to San Francisco and to their daughter, son-in-law and “grands” in California.

2004 Reunion
Family: Husband Bill, 1 son (in Iraq with the military), 1 daughter
Notes of my life: Taught French in Missouri, Masters in Church History, licensed Eucharistic Minister and Scripture lector, church choir and women’s groups, taught French and World Religion in California and Arizona. Active in the Episcopal Church in which her husband has been a priest.
Current Activities: Still singing, playing the flute. Enjoys PC hardware and software, active in PEO, writes poetry, reads. Interested in nutrition and alternative medicine, acupuncture and T’ai Chi. Plays cards, BBQs with friends, watches NFL, swims, tends a small citrus orchard, and enjoys Arizona life.
Plans for the future: Husband’s retirement was in October so they plan to continue traveling, especially to visit family.
Memories from Lawrence High Days: I remember the time I did a comic routine of the opera Carmen for y-Teens assembly ... It was so special marching with the LHS Band and getting in free for the games where we marched.
