50th Reunion
I was married 26 years and have four children and four grandchildren. I didn’t think that I would ever retire, but I am semi-retired. I golf (not very good). I have bowled all over the country and played in a few tournaments, carrying a 210 average and bowling 12 perfect games.
My plans for the future include working and bowling.
2005 Newsletter
My mailing address is 8800 S. Drexel Ave. Apt. 2012; Oklahoma City, OK 73159. I know a bunch of my friends have passed away but I will try to make it to the next class reunion in 2009. |

50th Reunion
After graduating from KU Med School, I completed training in infectious diseases. I married Susan Utterback of Newton and joined the faculty of the University of Oregon in Portland. Our two sons were born there. We moved to Texas Tech Medical School in Lubbock in 1993. While I have not invented the “hypodermic nerdle”, according to the class prophesy, I have had a productive academic career. I hold the Endowed Professorship for Excellence in Medical Education and am the Chief of Infectious Diseases. I have two children from a previous marriage and have four grandchildren.
2004 Reunion
Family: Wife Susan, 4 children, 4 grandchildren
Notes of my life: Professor of Infectious Diseases at Texas Tech Med School
Current Activities: Missed the reunion because he was in Scotland being inducted as a Fellow in the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh
Plans for the future: To retire somewhere with hills that are green and cool.
Memories from Lawrence High Days: Contrary to the class prophesy, he has not invented the “hypodeemic nerdle.”

50rh Reunion
I have been married to my wife, Deb, for 28 years. I had two children from a previous marriage — son and daughter. My son died in 2001. I have three grandchildren.
First, I’d like to thank Max Rife for starting my career in the travel business. When he cut me from the basketball team (after the football players came out), I went to work after school in the mailroom at Maupintour. After two attempts at KU, a wife and a child, I settled for a full-time job in the travel field. After 41 years and the opportunity to travel throughout the world, I retired as General Manager of Maupintour. Now, my wife and I live in the country near Clinton Lake with our two black labs on 3 acres in the timber. I rehabilitate vintage motorcycles and a 1953 Chevy truck. I get up every morning with nothing to do and never get it done. But, I have all day not to do it. Life is good!
2004 Reunion
Family: Wife Deb, 1 daughter, 3 grandchildren, 3 black Labs
Notes of my life: Retired in 1999 from Maupintours after 41 years: from mail boy to general manager.
Current Activities: Restoring vintage motorcycles and riding them. Enjoying life.
Plans for the future: Enjoy each day, one day at a time.
Memories from Lawrence High Days: After 45 years, do you expect me to remember anything?

2004 Reunion
Notes of my life: Left LHS for KU after junior year, after being convinced by her father, but going to college at 16 was a big mistake. She now lives in Denver. |
