Bits 'n Pieces

Many of you may remember Marilyn Chamney Lee's family home and dairy farm west of KU. Family members came together this past week (Oct. 10-15, 2010) for a reunion at the old dairy farmstead, which was acquired by the Kansas University Endowment in 1963. HERE for the LJW article and videos.

A look at LHS today: A video class at LHS made this "LHS Winter Court Lip Dub". Though the music may not be familiar this is a wonderful opportunity to see what the interior of LHS is like today. Only some scenes outside the windows look familiar. Go to http://www.youtube.com/

.

Bob Kimbrough: I will be getting the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine  "Dean's Faculty Service Award" at an award dinner this Thursday (May 13, 2010)in Lubbock.

Ida Johnson Jepperson:
I have a bit of news, I retire May 31st.  I cannot wait!

Elaine Hartzell Dittmer: We are leaving for North Carolina on May 13.  We’ll drive one car, with the two cats, and one is being shipped ahead.
We’re in Cary, NC., a town of about 140,000 along Raleigh’s southwestern edge, 15 minutes from Josh and Chrissy [son and daughter-in-law], who live in Raleigh.
We will join the Y in Cary, and John and Josh will find things to do in the new house, I’m sure. I’m looking forward to getting settled and spending time with the grandchildren. Hope I can keep up!

October plans for your calendar

sherriThe "LHS Gals Brunch Bunch" will gather at Marisco's (SE corner of 6th & Waukarusa) on the 2nd Tuesday (October 11) at 10 a.m.
The "LHS Gals Dinner Crew" will gather at Zen Zero (811 Mass) on Monday, October 24th at 5:30 p.m. We usually meet on the last Monday, but I know that you all will be wearing your costumes and going trick or treating that night. :-)
We had such a nice visit at Debbie Beene' s home this month. Thank you Debbie for having us; everything was lovely!
If any of you have a suggestion of where to meet, please let me know. I grab at any suggestion that is made because I enjoy being with you and our visits. With the coming of the holidays and bad weather, our gatherings will probably be more sparse and "iffy", so I hope you can join us now. All my best to you all! – Sherri

Reunion Items made to order

cap

Kay (Melva) Franz Hodge designed and constructed many items for the class of 1959 including photo albums, photo frames and caps. The items were such a success that she thought other classes might like items made for their reunions. She sends the following message:

Are you looking for a way to make your next reunion more memorable? Contact Kay Hodge for those special items with your graduation and reunion dates on them. You can select from many, many items for your graduates to pick from. Give me a call or send an email and see about making your next reunion special. — Kay Hodge , 851 E. 300 Rd., Overbrook, KS 66524, 785-748-0939, kyblhodge@yahoo.com.
